this is like a 3.75 for me, and new one is closer to a 4. I seem to love this more than most people, there are 6 or 7 songs here that I've easily jammed over 100 times.
if only I could rate in increments of 0.1 like the staffies...

Am I the only ones who LOVES the opener to this album? After 6 years of no new music, that opener was such a cool thing to experience in real time.
Yes! One of my favorites here, and tbh one of my favorite Slipknot songs period. So haunting. Really bleeds into Sarcastrophe well. The haunting and despairing nature of the opener lends to the desperation and anger in Sarcastrophe. My second favorite one two opening punch from Slipknot ā first obviously being Prelude and The Blister Exists.

@buttboy ā wait, are you talking about the opener to this (.5) or WANYK? I like the opener for WANYK, but Iām definitely referring to .5 with my previous comment.

This is way better than I remembered it to be. Yes, it is way too long, and it has some really awful tracks. But the tracks that aren't are actually really good. Wish the production was a bit better though, but it is still better than I remembered it to be

The production really kills the guitars on here, they sound so weak and dry.

Every Slipknot album, even their self-titled to a degree, falls off hard mid-way or three quarters the way through. This album maintains the same high quality of engagement pretty much the entire way through, and I find the softer songs to be more enjoyable than their counterparts on the other albums. For the wild ride this album is up to 30-40 minutes, and then they still manage to pull out more with Custer and The Negative one, demonstrates how much juice this album has. Slipknot albums don't usually juice it up with heavy opener-worthy songs that late. Absolute JUICER of an album. I suppose the six years between AHIG and .5 allowed for better songs to take position.
But if you're the type who has Iowa as your favorite I'd understand why you'd disagree with me. I really only like some of Slipknot's stuff, but the Slipknot I like I REALLY like. And it really did take me 7 years to fully appreciate this album. I remember the first day I listened to it, I took a walk to panda express with my headphones in, thinking it was a little cheesy even for Slipknot. Now I see the truth.
