While i agree that this one is great at that, please try Morbid Angel - 'Formulas...' that one is so incredibly out of this world great in incorporating psychedelic and the best thing ever!!!

I was bored of MA by the time I attempted (and failed) to properly get into Covenant. Altars slaps and I enjoyed some of their very early EP/demo material (whatever it was), but after that I started to struggle. Having said that I was probably after different things in DM (at the time), so I might enjoy them more now.

I don't think he actually meant caverncore as in 'metalcore' or the like, ha.
Not sure myself, it's trippy and has suffocating atmosphere. No shortage of melody for DM, but still murky. Has some doom and disso-death leanings. Idk, what exactly is caverncore?

@ demon: formulas is very different from altars and covenant... That one is 'the album' for psychedelic death metal. Especially invocations, covenant of death, nothing is not and prayer of hatred! But even the straighter songs got the vibe
