I'm in the process of getting Still Life as well, right now. Looking for Deliverance.
I'll pick that up next. So far from everything I've listened to, Still Life is my favorite.

This is quite possibly the best review Ive read from you so far Mikesn. Your metaphor at the starting of this review made me want to listen to this album right now! This review is a reflection of this album, a fantastic achievement! This Message Edited On 03.26.07

Ive listened to all of Opeth's stuff except Orchid. It's all amazing, and Damnation is tied as my favorite album by them. My other is Blackwater Park which is also a definite classic!

I read that they put together this album in a cockroach infested room with no windows on the hottest day northern europe has on record and after half-ass sleeping on some air-mattresses, they pretty much made this album in one marathon of miserable writting and re-recording, and came out with a damn fine masterpiece...god only knows how they did it, if I did that I just start smacking instruments out of frustration and heat induced rage demanding ice cold anything, not write a delicate symphony of perfection...

Frankly, after hearing Ghost Reveries a couple of times, I can see why all the praise. I'd get more, but they're danged expensive. They sure are. I managed to pick this up for 8 pounds ($17?) in London a couple weeks ago though, so that was pretty sweet.

I got this off itunes...so it was only 7.92  I got MAYH ff itunes also.
Since every other Opeth albums have songs over 10 mins though, i bought those in FYE. They were all around 20 bucks...though i think i got BWp for around 15 cause it was on sale. Oh, and I got Still Life off amazon so it was a bit cheaper as well. I seem to remember Ghost Reveries being round 23 dollars though.

Hope Leaves is simply amazing, I bought this album in the store for a rip off Swedish price, but I'm still very happy.

great Great CD, although knowing opeth, having the average song on here only 5 minutes or so, one could hope for a longer acoustic CD. but either way a great album.

also, im used to the 10 minute/distortion opeth mixed with the clean progressive stuff, but loving the progressive style this CD presents, my only take is that this could've been longer or add one or two more songs. but still very very good

So this is better than I remember. Windowpane, In My Time of Need, Closure, and To Rid the Disease especially.
