You need to have more perspective, I mean sure this may seem enjoyable, but it's really generic and it's obvious Still Remains isn't staying true to their integrity. They're going in the wrong direction.

I read your sound off and you seem to focus almost entirely on what the album isn't instead of what it is:

The songwriting yields a completely mellow and flaky melody which can barely even be classified as hardcore anymore.
So, its not classified as hardcore anymore... music doesn't have to be hardcore or 100% aggressive to be good. Focus on what it is instead of what you wanted it to be.
nstead the vocals are almost solely clean
Again, what's wrong with that? He's an excellent vocalist trying to expand his range and not come off as most every other metalcore vocalist out there.
while it aims for a more melodic sound, there is nothing which makes them go from complete wussies to utter heavyweights.
Subtly and melody doesn't make a band "wussies", they did their generic metalcore album and now they're over it... I don't see why that is so bad.

P.S. -Not trying to start any fights or attack you... just responding to your call for objectivity from those that don't rate the album low.

I'm in a position that I haven't heard any of their previous releases, so I can't really judge if they're better or worse than before. This is my introduction to the band so I can judge them on how I feel about this album, and I like it. And I find it a lot less generic than a lot of the usual metalcore out there.

wow they have keyboards they're not generic at all, point is, they've gone mainstream now, just like Atreyu and It Dies Today with SirensThis Message Edited On 09.01.07

That's the thing though, I don't give a bollucks that they've gone mainstream, as long as I like the music I don't care.

I don't see how going mainstream makes bands make bad music, it seems that the only reason you don't like this is that it has more clean vocals and is less br00tal, which is a pretty poor reason but each to their own, I think the vocals are good and it has some catchy guitar leads so that, among other reasons, is why I like it.

And like I said, the keyboards and the weird rock/metalcore feel the music has is new to me, and certainly not generic imo.

The reason I don't like this is because it sounds bland, it's repetive, very synth-y and lacks of any harmony. I also do not like this because I can go listen to a metal band like Disillusion that has already set the bar for this kind of stuff. This Message Edited On 09.01.07

Disillusion are awesome, and BTTOS is much much better than this.

I still find this enjoyable though, and that's good enough for me.

Ok, well that's fair enough, I'm out. If you like it, to each his own. But in the name of lucifer, i hope this wears off on you, painfully fast.

Within metalcore that gives them a slight difference, but there's obviously more to it then that. I love prog and black metal, so I'm not just hearing keyboards on a metal album for the first time and thinking its revolutionary.

I agree with Crimson as far as my total disregard for whether or not a band might be shooting for the mainstream (or are mainstream), as long as the music is good.

Stay Captive has to be one of the worst songs ever.. this album is just horrible.. for all you who disagree with me just listen to Anemia in your sheets, the beginning sounds like something any other band has already done, and maria is such a filler trackThis Message Edited On 09.04.07

I like Stay Captive and Maria... I just don't think you're into music as melodic or mainstream as this...

No one likes crap music... that sounds way too similar to the Bevis and Butthead thing of "not liking things that suck." Its just that tastes are individual so to think that every individual should hold your same opinions is unrealistic... to each their own. This Message Edited On 09.04.07
