and no, they didn't start Emo, in fact, they are a POST (=after)-emo band. But they where one of the first bands to combine indie and emo into one which influenced a lot of bands like Elliott, Mineral etc..

SDRE is an indie band. There is no hardcore in their music and therefore, no emo.

Damrod, fourfa.com is sort of wacked out in the emocore and post-emo indie rock departments. How are Hot Water Music or SDRE hardcore at all? Doesn't add up. fourfa is a good primer but not a good source for anything beyond the kindergarten understanding of the genre.

Jesus Christ, do I hate genre elitists. SDRE is Christian rock, guys. Deal with it. I still love you guys, but good lord.

Good review and an even better CD. However, I think you didn't quite give Pheurton Skeurto enough credit. It's possibly the most haunting song within the album, and it has the most unique sound in comparison to the rest of the songs. Then again, it could just be a difference of opinion.

This is my favorite emo album. SDRE are one of the only emo bands that I can enjoy.

I think "Grendel" is more haunting, but oh well. This album is still great, regardless of genre.

This album is amazing. That guitar riff in "47" (I think that's the one) sums up the entire album. How any guitarist (outside of Tony Iommi or other metal gods) could make such a perfect riff to exemplify an album's mood boggles the mind.



But it's a good boggle. Also, I love the cover art too. Not quite what I would have expected from hearing the music, but it still fits.
