where is the album lacking in your opinion to make it average?
It brings nothing new to a genre already overflowing with bands that sound exactly the same. It's just an average album within the scene.

not trying to be a D*ick but if your going to use the overused criticism "bands that sound exactly the same" i just want you to back it up, i can accept that this band just may not be anything special to you, but i just thought that this band stood out amoungst the crowd, even though it might not be completely 'Genre Defying music that has never been attempted in the history of Genres'

Love this band. Though it has been clearly pointed out that it may be generic to some, it still is catchy. I like some of the lyrics, but I thought some were weak and overused in the hardcore genre. Nothin to rack your brain on. Definitely something to enjoy...and all that bullshiit.

Solid album, just a tad formulaic for my taste. There are a few tastes of greatness on such tracks as "Shiner" and "Faith or Forgiveness."

Really deserves a 3, but I'm feeling kind. Seeing as these are apparently the only songs they wrote after being together for a short while, then recording the album soon after (all in the space of a year mind you), I think it's a commendable effort, though held back by repetitive song writing and milking too many riffs (shiner anyone?).

This a great debut.

i got this album with my main concern as to a hardcore band with MELODY(as i play in one and want to see it grow in the scene) but ONLY thing disappointing about this album is that (for me) they are still just a hardcore band.
meaning
-The songs are usually under 3 minutes
-its fast paced constantly
-They throw in (some nasty) breakdowns
thats just disappointing for me though some other might like that stuff the bright side
the album has ALOT of great melodic riffage, the drumming Is actually very creative (for a hardcore band) and he's good with his feet. on top of that who doesnt love those purely pissed off Hxc"i sound like im from new york" vocals. plus the bassist of belay my last plays in this band =)
thats just where im at with it basically its a great album but its not all it can be

Good review. you pretty much nailed it right on the dot there. They don't reinvent the wheel but it's still damn good and manages to stick out from other bands in the scene.

I really dig this band, the production on this disc is just awesome. Its too bad alot of people on this site think bands are "generic" if their not playing in 13/8 time signature, or playing 64th notes for ten minutes straight. not that those things arent cool, but music will always have a place for bands that just get to the point and just want to rip. will there be a lot of bands shooting for that sound? absolutely, will they all execute it as good as these guys? nope.

Sits between a 2.5 and a 3 for me, but since the lion war is such a good track, I'll give it the latter.
