The end part of the song 'Their Spirits Ride with the Wind' is just orgasmic. *Proceeds to wipe off computer screen*

I just listened to some songs on their myspace too. Now I want this album even more than I already did.

This is actually really easy to listen to all the way through despite it's length.

Good review but the effect of this album quickly wore off on me.

The first two listens were great. I'm not a fan of the clean vocals or production of course it's a debut though. Started to write one for this but scrapped it completely for Tristania. Meh, i'll take Scorpii. I love the guitars though, reminds me of Blood Red Throne. Fuck the production man. This Message Edited On 07.20.08

Meh, not to me. It just seems a bit jumbled together. I'm not denying that it's good because it is but too many things prevent me from giving this a higher rating. First Disillusion and now this, I must either be on crack or just a lone wolf.

Yeah it does see to have little flow since there's a lot going on from song to song. I'll have to listen to it a couple more times at least, but first impressions were the clean vocals were ehh, I really liked the melodic aspects of some songs, the production was pretty muddy, and that HUGE breakdown (I think it was in As I Wither) would've made Waking the Cadaver blush with it's pure brutal slam-riffageThis Message Edited On 07.21.08

October's Monody is an absolutely amazing song, I've listened to it so many times.

I don't see how you guys can give this a 4.5? In Mourning's debut sounds more focused overall and stronger than this Whatever though, to each his own.

I'm thinking of dropping this to a 4 personally, but it does have some amazing songs.
And yes, I agree 100% that In Mourning's debut was much better. In fact "The Shrouded Divine" is one of my favourite albums.

Yeah decided to drop to a 4.This Message Edited On 07.21.08

im thinking of bumping Shrouded Divine to a 5, but this is still a 4.5 to me. i doubt it will stay that way but no way is this a 3.5. theres so much awesomeness on this disc its hard to not give it the credit it deserves. this album has risen to the complexity and originality of Opeth, Edge of Sanity, Disillusion, or even In Mourning's recent success.

Yeah, I bumped Shrouded Divine from a 4.5 to a 5 because it just gets better with every listen. I really enjoy this album but I don't think it is as good tbh, although still worth more than 3.5.

To each his own. This is the most generous 4.5 i've ever heard and I would not go as far as comparing this to Opeth levels. I'll agree to disagree, live to fight another day. Hail Joker.

i guess to each his own, but giving a Paramore album a 4 is pretty generous as well. yeah this isnt quite on the level of Opeth but what this album has been able to combine so many different styles of metal and other styles is one of the best i have heard. i think you just dont care much for the production because the power of this album and originality deserves at least a 4 from a metal fanThis Message Edited On 07.21.08
