Decided to go back to the early Amon Amarth since it's been ages for me. Started with this one since this and Fate of Norns were two albums I bought at the same time when I was first getting into death metal. This album is still pretty damn good imo. Opening track specifically is a banger imo. Gonna hit up Versus next

Yeah it's good. My rating is on the conservative side. Early AA and some mid AA rules so hard. Versus is among their best, top 3 easily.

Agreed. I've strayed away from melodic death metal over the years but AA we're huge for me in my early extreme metal days. Back when I joined the site Fate of Norns might have been my favorite album of all time honestly. I still have quite the soft spot for it too. Don't think there's a single weak track on it and everything on it is permanently etched in my brain due to me playing it to death back then

Oh nice yeah I totally agree! It's my fave of theirs too. And I've never been big on MeloDeath to be honest but these guys have always been there. Crunchy, catchy and energetic music with lovely riffs. Oden finishes my top 3, what's yours?

North Sea Storm definitely does, indeed, rip. Like a crashing wave of broad axes and braided beards.
