I got this album for Christmas (an import CD copy, which has most excellent sound quality) and I really like it. Easily best Mk. I effort, and I'd say better than Who Do We Think We Are and comparable to Fireball.
April is probably my second favorite DP song, behind Child in Time.

"April" is one of the most interesting songs this band ever recorded.

Deep Purple isn't just the the peak of Mark I line-up, it is one of the best DP records period. All the songs here are excellent and "April" is trully a masterpiece. Jon Lord is is probably the greatest keyboardist in Rock music.

Nice album. Shows the band's progression from their earlier material into more progressive song structures. The keyboard-laden interludes and solos are absolutely brilliant here especially on 'Blind' and 'Why didn't Rosemary'.

This rules. It's just different from the best of Mk. II and III.

Blackmore = God
His solo on Why Didn't Rosemary? is arguably among his best.
