I have been meaning to buy this album for a while. The only song I have heard is Closer, which I adore. I had a few doubts about buying this album (a friend said it was bad), but I whole-heartedly believe and understand everything you wrote. Your skill is incredible, and I strive to write reviews as well as you do. I know you get a lot of praise, but I really mean it. This album review touched me; imagine how much the album itself will! I could relate to everything you said about the album and Nine Inch Nails. You rock, man.

Double post: Once again, your writing touches me, in a very deep and solemn way. You're the best reviewer on the site. You could have given this album a 1/5, and I would still think your review was great. This Message Edited On 12.25.05

I can't believe I've never posted in here before!
First off, amazing work Med. This review captured every aspect of the album I can think of. I, for one, can't begin to explain how much NIN means to me. Trent, by himself, is able to convey so many emotions through his music. He shows his dispair, his anger, his sadness, and anything else he may be feeling masterfully. This album had a beautifully done concept with some of the most memorable sings of our time. Mr. Self Destruct, Ruiner, Hurt, and Heresy stand out especially to me.

However, I feel that The Fragile far surpasses this. Many say that the album's 23 songs was a little excessive, but I say it was everything Trent needed to make the best industrial album ever. The instrumentals were so beautiful it was a surreal feeling. The heavier songs were unrelenting and still posses powerful emotions. Trent is indeed a genious, and The Fragile takes me to another place everytime I listen to it. I never thought mere sound could have such a powerful impact on me.
Bravo Med, this is a masterpiece, as is the album after it. Unfortunately, since I think The Fragile has an edge over this, I can only bring myself to give this a 4.5, but it does deserve a 5.
Comment too long my ass.

Just like lack of alcohol ruined Metallica, I believe it's done so for NIN, as well.
Damn you, Trent!

I used to not like Trent Reznors work, but I heard one of the songs from this not to long ago and I quite enjoyed it.

No, it was definitely the lack of alcohol. Drinking gave them talent. I can't imagine how drunk they were during the MoP era.

I love all NIN albums.

But.. but... it... pales in comparison. And it's slightly boring.
I give it a three... out of five.

I like it better than Pretty Hate Machine. Sure, it pales in comparison to this and TF, but it has some really enjoyable tracks.
