It really went to influence many a rocker that's for sure, I actually enjoy more tracks on this than any other album I've heard by him; might have to get this and rate it.

One of his more straight rocking albums, I think.

Great review as usual!

Oh totally missed this.

Such a great record too. As is true with about 90% of Bowie.

That's true, Yeti - 90% of Bowie's stuff is top. If its from the 70s and its got Bowie's name on the cover you know you're in for something incredible.

As far as it not making much progression on Ziggy I have to say that in many cases when we get

something great from an artist we wish there were a larger library from that musicians "period". Due

to this I don't typically have a problem with an artist not changing up the formula too much for an

encore as it were. It's when they don't know when to move on that it becomes an issue IMO. I'm not

saying this to correct you in any way Tom I just wanted to express my own feelings about an effort

like Aladdin Sane.

Another great aspect of this album for me is that it really sets an example of good trends in music

from this period vs bad. A major rift forms between good and bad music when any kind of effect or

gimmick is overused or misused. This can also be the sign of a new artist trying to cover up the

parts of his/her art he/she is self conscience about. I've always felt that Bowie was a prime

example of how to mix down an effect to good use in a way that lifts his music instead of miring it.

With Bowie in particular that would be with synths, Synth is something I abhor from the next two

decades of music but when done well e.g. Bowie's music production I find myself actually enjoying

it.

Great review as always (obviously got me thinking) POS bro.

Lady Grinning Soul and Prettiest Star are the standout tracks on here for me, although their all great for the most part.
