Ah, the Dial album is great. I've been waiting for a follow up for years. There are definite progressive elements, but it's combined with an alternative-pop sort of style. Very unique and melodic. The female vocalist (can't think of her name) and Kristoffer both perform well. Devon also contributes vocals on two or three of the songs. Highly recommended from me.
I have never really gotten into Threshold. What I've heard didn't impress me, but I do need to give a proper listen to their albums at some point. Damian Wilson is one of the best modern prog singers though.
Yeah, Complex 7 is new to me. Are they worth looking into?

I listened 1-2 times to their first album, it didn't impress me, but i gotta listen to it more.
A real treat for you would be (unless you know them already) the first four albums from an Italian prog metal band called Eldritch.
Awesome stuff, have these albums since the mid '90s and they haven't lost their edge since then.

Cool. I'll check Eldritch out then. There was a lot of great material being pumped out so it's always good to discover bands from that era, especially those that are still active.

If you expect more from this album, listen to it a couple more times. Then, toss your review and write a Doctoral thesis next time. At least you'll get a PhD out of it. this album is excellent. It is a serious grower, like most good music.
I don't know exactly what you were expecting. Maybe that is the problem here.
You expected something else and reviewed that expectation.

If you want to write a fricking Wiki entry about Psychotic Waltz, maybe you should do that.
This band is called Shadow Theory. It isn't Psychotic Waltz. It is a different deal.
Try on a little objectivity. Forget where the players came from or their past tendencies when reviewing.
FAIL.

"Operation: Mindcrime where the music is insanely dense."
Excuse me!? Mindcrime is insanely dense?!
No it isn't. It is streamlined and tight. There is no excess anywhere.
There is nothing at all Dense about Mindcrime.
The rhythm parts are spare and complimentary, the drums are to the point, the backing vocals are clean.
Dense!? Demilich is dense.
