All right. I still need to beat III, VIII, and X though. III was just kinda bleh and I couldn't get past Squall's surliness. X I had a copy of, but it broke. I was sads.

That's crazy, I think IX is one of the best FFs, and FFVI is one of my favorites.

VIII and X are 2 of my favorites. squall's surliness is a horrible excuse not to beat it so get on that asap. the end boss is killer
and III is one of my least favorites too but I never really got into the original game either

I was young at the time, so I think it colored my decision a little more that it would now. But my favorite leading man is still Cecil.

FFVIII just might have the best OST.

I really dig that OST, definitely in my top 5, but VI just speaks to me on so many levels. I dunno, to each his own.

Kefka is the greatest FF villain. Sephiroth is a little bitch.
This soundtrack and the FFIX soundtrack are the best imo.

I've never played VI. III was annoying because it could and should have been much better. II was definitely the most unique.
I is too underrated. The soundtrack isn't great, but there's a lot of depth in it. To get the best experience playing I, you guys should play the hacks at Gamefaqs.

Cool. Great soundtrack. The battle themes are still among the best of any rpg, imo. And Phantom Forest, Terra, etc. So much great stuff.
Oh, and the piano collection for this game is amazing. Best of the FF series.

A game I find to be highly underrated is FFV. The Job system is fantastic, ExDeath is a pretty interesting villain, and the first appearance of Gilgamesh (and his awesome music) make it worth playing.

'FFVIII just might have the best OST.'
lolwut
'Kefka is the greatest FF villain. Sephiroth is a little bitch.'
the amount of villains that were created based on sephiroth is ridiculous, one of my favorite video game characters of all time.

IX is best OST ever

Kefka totally steals the show in this game. I am simultaneously horrifiend and amused by him. His response to the heroes' heartwarming and sentimental speech is pure brilliance. "Bleh! You people make me sick! You sound like lines from a self-help book! If that's how it's going to be... I'll snuff them all out! Every last one of your sickening, happy little reasons for living!"

Everyone points to Kefka poisoning the town as his "sadistic event" but the scene with Leo and the espers was far more poignant at least for me.
Now, for a real discussion, which game is the best?
(I hate VII, the story is terrible. Far too many fanboys of Cloud.)

For me personally, here are my rankings (of the ones I've beaten
1. VI
2. IV
3. VII
4. V
5. I
6. II
I and II are just really primitive compared to the later ones, and II's leveling system is just weird. Personally, I like VI the best, I just find its combination of story, characters, music, and gameplay to be the best. IV is a nostalgia pick (my first non-Pokemon RPG) and VII, while I find it to be a tad overrated I still enjoyed it a whole lot.

I need to beat this
I took a break after you beat Kefka the first time and Terra flies off.
Kefka himself was a pushover, it was the 30 or so soldier battles prior and the captain that were taxing

Also, the Opera scene in VI is pure video game gold. One of my favorite scenes of any video game.
