glad you ended up reviewing the album, Davey.

Shame that Nik isn't used to full effect, which definitely ends up detracting from the overall aspect of the album.

Gonna continue to jam The Brink, Time To Dance, and The End though!

Is this good Aus indie rock like The Panics? "Listens to the sample"
Tut. Fucks sake.

"The End was basically Endless Summer lite "

I think that's a fair comment when all is said & done. And yet, it's probably the best thing here. I still prefer 'Endless Summer' to 'Mace Spray' just.

"we've spent the past two years looking in his phone book for transfer targets. "

This made me laugh Ali. And looking at the make up of the team, I don't doubt that it's true.

"agreed hard re higher register too, does grate a bit in verses. best left for when shit needs escalating"

As this album was released down under a week or so back, I was very surprised when no-one else mentioned this. It's really obvious to me.

"I love this one, not more than Prisoner, but it's great to see what else the band is capable of... Nice review".

Thanks. Sorry, forgot to comment on your review as I was putting the finishing touches on mine. Really well-written & I think you describe your thoughts really well. Keep it up.

No probs TLTGB. I'm starting to think more and more re: Nik's drumming. There really is a fine line between stranding out as a positive & standing out as a negative when it comes to his work. I think the subtlety of the mixing & production will come into play down the track. It's a tough one, because he can be a huge strength for this band, but could also be seen to be a weakness, if that makes sense.

I'm really liking the album still, but it's not close at all to the debut.

The best song by far is indeed the title track. I feel this album is strong on either end, but slow and somewhat boring in the middle.

Ended up being a 3.8-9 something-something and since I can't do decimals I ended up rounding because my favorite songs on this album rival my favorites on Prisoner.

Thanntos, big call on the highlights here being as good as on 'Prisoner'. I have to disagree, as if you match up the similar songs to each other, the tunes from 'Prisoner' always win.

Thanks Marco. I don't understand your question. Are you asking if they - or I'm - Aussie? Either way, the answer is yes.

I was at a gig the other day and found out one of the guys I've been moshing with for the last few months is Atavan. Mind blown.

Nice review Davey. Can't say I like this album too much.

Haha, no no Davey! I was talking about the band. It's just I've been digging some Australian tunes lately. Hoping I enjoy this one as well (also, that you're Australian.. Could be said I'm into you too, I mean, your reviews haha... jk!)

Get out of marco.

Gee Butkuiss, if you've been moshing with Atavan, I'm guessing you;ve been on your back a few times. LOL. What don't you like about the review? Going by your sound-off, we have roughly the same thoughts. Or was I too nice with my rating?

Just an opinion but I think The Brink, No Country and Psychotherapy are all up there with some of my favs from debut. The styles of the songs themselves, yes very different, but I'm not looking at comparing in terms of similarity.

'No Country' & 'Psychothearpy' just don't do it for me. They set up alright, but just don't go anywhere. I think I'd rather listen to something sike 'Long Highway', which I didn't even have in my top 5 songs from 'Prisoner'. But to each their own, and I have seen othe1r reviews say both those tracks are some of the best here.

Nice work Davey, though I think you meant to end this sentence with a question mark:

Would their follow-up release look to take over the world by stretching their soaring stadium-sized sound even further, or would the quartet retreat into their introverted shells for the sake of consolidative comfort.

Yeah, I got bowled over by him at one of the To The North reunion shows a few weeks back. It was great fun though.

And fuck. Massive typo. Edited. I meant to say "Nice review Davey. Can't say I like this album too much."

Excuse me while I hang my head in shame.

Also, seconded the comment about Nik not being used to his full potential. He was my favourite part about this band back in the day.

Nice pick-up Omaha.

Watch out people, Rudy is excited.

Don't try to turn it around and say you like the review now. Dare I say it, but stop trying the butkuiss on me. It won't work.
