Well done review! This band was on my ever-lengthy list bands to check out, and your review finally jarred me into listening to them....and now I dropped $30 I didn't have for the import vinyl

well written but what is it with the vague, flowery generalizations plaguing our reviews lately.

y'all need to ground yourselves a bit.

this kinda music is vague in general tbh, and the best way I can describe it is my own experience listening to it. I agree that it's pretty personal but I don't think it was too flowery for this kinda thing

i was just making a joke about the dude's comment earlier. while i understand how someone could get annoyed about these kinda reviews being flowery or whatever, i also think some reviews take thinking outside of the box. i know i couldn't write about this kinda album without pulling some stupidly vivid imagery or some shit

it's more of a lack of emotional grounding/relation to real 'things' in general. the best albums are the
ones that make you feel, but you can't pull me in and make me understand what you're feeling by being overly
general. saying "it makes you think" and "it stifles your thoughts" is awesome, but in what way? being
specific helps us understand where your head is as a reviewer and makes the writing that much more
impactful. any high school creative writing teacher can tell you the interest hinges on the details.

I don't give a fuck what the guitar sounds like, I care what specifically that sound brings forth for you.

@iswim - I agree, but I still feel like I elaborated enough. For example, when I said it 'stifled my thoughts' i thought that tied pretty well to the whole 'new emotional ground' thing and how the album 'didn't take me to another world, but kept me grounded and forced me to dwell' etc..

you definitely did, and im certainly not saying you're the worst offender here. the problem is, with that point specifically, is that you're kind of tying down your vague thought to an other kind of less-vague-but-still-vague thought. there's nothing 100% tangible about it. again, i like the review, just a pattern i've been seeing around here that i hope doesn't explode into a common theme in our reviews. be relatable.

@iswim - "this is the soundtrack for the long walk in the evening" - seems pretty relatable to me. Idk man, we might just be doomed to disagree on this one. I think anyone who's familiar with getting lost in ambient music should be able to relate to this, but I'll try and take your input and apply it next time I do a review of this type. Cheers

This is a great piece on music and its emotional effects
as it is a great piece on psychology
as it is a great piece on phillosophy
as it is a review

Taken all together this review is stunning. Pos

Iswimfast has good advice that you should listen to, and that is me being serious. Those are the kinds of comments that'll help
yr writing the most

It is, and I'll definitely try to apply it, but I'm still adamant on this particular album. I might tweak it a bit later though... I could be
more specific about my listening experience rather than holding back and being... well, vague.

"he's just much nicer about it"
Iswimfast took the time to elaborate, rather than be needlessly passive-aggressive. Thanks for the link though, forgot to include that
