@Ins
If you're someone like me that went off the band and only really likes Parallex pt 1 and Colors, would I enjoy this? Or is it not worth bothering?

@calc, i still wish they didnt go in this direction but it's great for what it is. i just hope they dont completely ditch their metalcore roots
@gonzo, it's hard to say. most of this album sounds like BtBaM playing dream theater better than dream theater so take that as you will

just listened to these guys for the first time and they're really not that bad. settle down

That Intro paragraph would have worked for the last three btbam releases

Colors and Alaska for life. Anything after that is just hype shit that will never live up

Only listened to 'The Coma Machine' from this album and I found it pretty underwhelming to be honest, so not sure what to expect from the band's new album. Good review anyways man.

BTBAM (imo) has been going down since Colors. It just kinda has been happening slowly over time. I used to be one of the biggest fanboys ever, and they're turning me into one of the biggest haters ever. It's literally starting to piss me off that they can't learn how to transition in songs. That's literally like one of the first things you should learn with songwriting, and they still have no idea how to fucking do it. Completely infuriating to someone who's been a fan for so long and is constantly getting more and more disappointed with every album. Dude's have been writing the same album for like 3-4 albums now. They're just another idiot metal band that actually has some talent and dedication, but they waste it on wanking and selling out to what makes the most money. Fuck it.
Edit: Good review though bro, enjoyed it.

i agree theyve been getting less ambitious, especially on this album (it feels like they're holding back a lot to compensate for Tommy) but selling out is a bit of a stretch. at least theyre not writing power ballads

I doubt these guys are writing any other music other than what they feel like writing. these guys seem pretty down to earth. doubt I'll give this more than a superficial go however. loved (still do) colors and alaska to a certain extent, but I have lost interest ever since.

I thought their previous album was just about acceptable in terms of annoyingness, this album seems to go up and over that so i'm probably not gonna like it. Then again native construct's album is one of my favourite albums this year.

native construct was far more annoying than this one tbh

yeah that native construct album is just way overboard. hella skilled musicians though, give them that.

I did enjoy some of their ideas here and there (both in Native Construct and this) but they're all over the place with no structure whatsoever. Too much self-awareness in general makes both releases annoying to listen to and doesn't hide the fact that this is not very good progressive music at heart. It's basically every defining characteristic of progressive metal cranked up to 11 with little real depth to the songwriting that really isn't my thing but fans will love anyway

The songs just seem like a mess at first glance, it took me a few listens to realise that everything actually gels really well. I also believe that native construct's album had an obvious concept, whereas this just doesnt seem to know what it wants to be, granted i havent listened to it properly yet.
