and ya i just posted 10 times in a row fuck it

i don't think windhand sounds like anyone. ew to a certain extent i suppose. orange goblin certainly doesn't sound like ew. i'd say you have a hard time remembering a band like og more because they're just not all that good than because of homogeneity.

"i mean im not putting down these genres or anything but it all seems very anti-growth and anti-experimentation"
i'd say bands like neurosis and rwake help to negate your statement

windhand might have a hot chick singin but i mean come on, i think theyre pretty obviously into sleep and the wizard and weed. theyre a killer group, killer live show, im not dissin them, i mean i dont think every band should set out to be revolutionary but you should at least have some experimentation goin on. like, you can still have the melvs/sleep/wizard/sabbath influence goin and throw in other sounds too

dominion i think its pretty obvious im talkin about "modern" music and not a band like neurosis thats old as fuck and i wouldnt throw them in the whole "stoner revival" at all. same with rwake although theyre not as old but im not talkin about that
|
| |
all i'm saying is that you're looking at doom in too narrow of a scope

Album Rating: 3.5
all im sayin is you cant deny that there a ton of bands out there that are content with milking something that really reached its peak in like, 1971. the only other genre i can think of that takes so much pride in being old school is new thrash

look man i just call neurosis a metal band
|

Album Rating: 3.5
but hey if anything heavy thats not death/thrash/black is doom then i guess modern doom is super varied. but i dont think so
|
| |
eh to a certain extent. but i think it's all how you define doom. those bands that have that old school sound, along with a very sabbath-esque aesthetic, are a small minority in the genre.
anyway...good record

yeah ive heard people call shit doom that i wouldnt call doom so who knows. most of the doom i hear that isnt funeral doom or the epic doom stuff sounds like sabbath and the wizard mostly

"band is so damn good" [2]
how tf does this album only have 75 ratings. easily one of the best doom albums ever
|
| |
actually tho, how does this have so few ratings? this feels like it should be some stoner/doom classic. absolutely crushing record
