Dunno what to say bro, to me this feels like he took everything he had already done well and added some new things, as opposed to playing it safe

this is a damn fine review, congrats on the feature!

oh shit, thanks whoever did that :]
edit: atari you're a real G

This one is less experimental but more focused than Roads, and overall the better record (and Panopticon's best record), though both are fantastic. Probably metal AOTY for me!

"atari you're a real G"
no problem man, you deserved it. was just bad timing with posting my review right before yours and I wanted to ensure people gave your write-up the time of day as well

:] appreciate it, writing this kinda felt like writing a love letter to lunn, i'm a huge fan of his work

i like pretty much all this guys stuff, even kentucky tbh
roads to the north was cookie cutter as balls tho i hope this isnt like that

hmmmm that's a rare opinion to have, i'm actually not sure how'd you react to this. my gut feeling says you'd dislike it

every single track on Roads was stylistically different and he combined all of his ideas instead of going for one focused style... how's that cookie cutter pots? If anything's cookie cutter it was Kentucky where he just took the same bm ideas and slapped flutes on top.

ill return with my thoughts in due time

all the ideas came off cookie cutter to me? it was a shmorgishborg of styles, yes, but each style done in the most generic way humanly possible. it didnt reach me. man especially the melo death sections, that shit was BANAL AS FUK
imo

Yeah Roads is better.

Roads is great, but I think that the experimentation came at the expense of memorability.
This album is much more focused and passionate, and every song has something that pulls me back to it. If I were to compare this album to another, it'd probably be Axioma Ethica Odini for Enslaved.

Really? I don't hear any Enslaved here bro, maybe it's just me haha.

this has a buttload more bm than Axioma tho, which was like barely bm instrumentally.

yeah i love axioma but that was black influenced prog metal. Maybe a bit of tremolo here and there but that's it

I have Social Disservices and Roads to the North and I dig them both, what's this like?

hmmmm i kinda hate comparing it to his previous work, but it's a more polished, well rounded roads. nothing like social honestly

Yeah agreed with that. Def doesn't sound like any of their first 3 albums.
