Bach, I just find it to be too subdued for my taste and trust me I love Cocteau Twins but I just find it to be too monotonous. That being said Wax and Wane is probably my favorite song from them.

Also, I am trying to get into Head over Heel but I am just not in the mood to listen to it right now. I haven't listened to Pornography by The Cure for like a week. Something is wrong with me. Zombie, I am also in college and I have finals in 16 days.

that's about when I have mine, too. Lucky for me, it's my last semester of undergrad! I sense many reviews and jams in my future...

i mean i get why some people wouldn't like it. it's a straight goth/post punk record and most people who like cocteau twins are suckers for dreamy shit

I love dark culture in general. Head Over Heels is by far better than this. I couldn't comment on it in this review because I didn't know the album until now.

for me, the bass and drums on this really bring it down. Will Heggie's bass was absolutely boring, and the monotonous drum tracks do no favours for the album, either. Otherwise it would probably be on par with their "dreamy" stuff

I agree completely about the bass sound and the drum tracks as well. The drum tracks totally were monotonous and that is the problem with this album. It is like a subdued version of Juju or even Faith to a certain extent.

Why in the fuck did I say Post-Punk has no variation? Anything Post besides Grunge has a ton of variation.

Starting my proper Cocteau Twins exploration here, I've heard pretty much all their albums before at some point in my life (mom is a big fan) but never listened to them properly. Anyway, this rules, the second half especially, and I can't wait to hear/revisit the rest of their discog. Also pretty crazy they were only 19-20 when they made this.

As a Deftones fan who discovered this band through their cover of Wax and Wane, I feel a little called out lol.
