haha thanks dude! I think you'll enjoy this one.

The solo from 2:17 onward on the title track just screams Arch Enemy, Amott really has a distinctive style.

Yes, there are some moments like that over SB's catalogue. Amott's really cool; he should play it less safe on Arch Enemy stuff.
|
| |
How come Amott can write riffs for this band but everything he's done in Arch Enemy the last ~ten years has been crap. C'mon man.

Maybe he's simply enjoying this project much more, dunno...

Good review but I differ in many points, especially with Apollo perfomance.
"while Apollo Papathanasio sounds like he has fully settled to the band; the vocalist’s tone and style is very reminiscent of David Coverdale and fits the music perfectly"
For me Apollo isn't a bad singer, but is not good either. His strong vocal style lacks of variety along the entire album. Also the comparison with the giant Coverdale, is too much for this guy. I still wonder would have happened if J.B had continued in the band.

Definitely not suggesting that Apollo is as good as Coverdale haha. As a singer, songwriter or even band leader, David was leagues ahead of Apollo. Just his tone and approach reminds me that of Coverdale.

Apollo does bring that Whitesnake aesthetic to the band, and the more melodic approach they've taken makes the comparison even more legitimate.
Also, Hard Road's intro reminds me Scorpions' Top of the Bill. The guitar tone and solo is way too similar to be ignored. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, though, the song is very good.

The solos are funny but I have the impressions that I'm always listening to the same song

Great album! I appreciate that they do not tune their instruments so low any more. Anything below drop D does not suit this style of music.
Either the iguana on the cover is a nod to Mantra III or they are obsessed with reptiles

Perhaps both.
