Ooh, I liked this, possibly more than I was expecting in all honesty. She had a lovely voice. RIP.
So, this is psych pop + bossa nova then, for the uninitiated? I had never heard the term 'Tropicália', but am very vaguely familiar with bossa nova as...
a) a concept
b) because Stereolab exist, lol

Demon, you gotta check bossa nova's masters: Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, Vinicius & Toquinho, Nara Leão, etc.
Tropicália ou Panis et Circencis is the record that resulted from the Tropicália cultural movement against Brazil's dictatorship.

This sounds super interesting and I should definitely check it. Weird how a person passing also usually brings a new wave of interest for their work, but that's how it goes.

"So, this is psych pop + bossa nova then, for the uninitiated? I had never heard the term 'Tropicália', but am very vaguely familiar with bossa nova as..."
There were tinges of bossa nova in most brazilian music from the 60's and 70's. The addition of foreign sounds of the times at the late 60's (like psychedelic pop) and a general message against the right wing dictatorships that plagued latin america at the time is what would be known as Tropicalia
Tropicalia is one of many styles that can be encompassed into the broader MPB genre which is basically brazilian sounds (like samba and bossa nova) with mixes of foreign sounds and instruments like rock, jazz, funk, soul etc, and which flourished in the second half of the XXth century in Brazil in what might have been the golden age of its music

nice, thanks for the info Mr. SLG!
I don't know how far I'll actually delve into any of the related artists / the movement in general (instinctively, I'd say it seems unlikely at this stage, due to 'priorities'), but I'm happy to have heard this, regardless of where it may (or may not) ultimately lead to.

Going in now. First thing that immediately comes to mind: looooove her voice 😍, and the many many MANY different influences that are incorporated here.
Can already tell this is going to be good!

Solid rec by moi then, although it does seem like such obvious Trifcore that I couldn't possibly have failed
@Ars: will do, I was already planning to check Gal

It very much was a solid rec. And it is super obvious Trifcore indeed. I mean, this must have clearly inspired the one and only Portishead. At least, I hear strong echoes of Gal Costa there, perhaps on all of their albums.
