Ah well, every year starts off slow. Closer you to get to the summer/middle of the year, you start seeing the heavy hitters, then fall generally has a pretty strong showing. Along the way you get stuff like this that just comes out and surprises you, no real way to predict it.
If you at all like metalcore, keep your eyes peeled for Rolo Tomassi's new full length early March. Should be something to discuss if nothing else.

Yeah I’ve been following releases for years and generally I’ll have 3-4 AOTY contenders at this point. I’m not even sure I have one at this stage.
I listen to metal across the spectrum so make sure you remind me March.

They're remarkably consistent and have one of the more unique takes on the genre, so I'll definitely make sure it stays on people's radar.
