I kind of disagree. I'm only really a fan of their last three albums. I didn't really like the poppy post hardcore previous to that, and really didn't like their original style. Having said that, this album is really good but it takes a few listens to sink in.

I have no problems with a softer style if it's done well/thoughtfully but the first half of this album is not
second half is pretty killer though

I really liked this review. Very well-written. The singles released from this album so far have me very nervous about how the whole album will sound to me. Anxious to hear this LP.

"a touch out of key"
how DESPERATE were you to sneak in that reference? but yah great review, I honestly expected this album to be a total disaster so the fact that there's anything good here at all is encouraging.
"Their very best songs would see the light and the dark clashing within the same structure, every member's different interpretation of what the band could be fighting for dominance in an exhilarating rush."

I received a copy from a staff member on another site, "I Gave Up" is phenomenal, and the electronics in the second verse of "No Frame" are almost harsh noise-y and it's really atmospheric.

If it’s mostly good then I look forward to hearing it but I sincerely doubt that it’ll come close to their last three based on the material released so far.
Apparently you get two bonus track if you buy it from Target so maybe I’ll do that
Lol buying an Underoath album at Target
EDIT just remembered that back in 2006 I bought Norma Jean’s Redeemer at Target

The first single was literally the worst track on the album, but I actually enjoy Rapture a fair bit
