This isn't any better or worse than their past few albums. It's basically the same exact thing they've been doing for ages now, which means I'll probably give it a 3

Sam's vocals are so fucking good. He's a top-tier metal vocalist.

I don't mind this one at all. Actually prefer it over the new Silent Planet, which I never saw coming.

the instrumentation is ok.

specifically the pick scrapes on seventh circle add a nice touch even if they only remind me of gojira.

cant stand the vocals tho, ima go.

sry dr luv ya but this is not for me

@Luc: When the End Began and this are about tied for me. I enjoy the lyricism and instrumentation here more but prefer the vocals on Silent Planet's album.

I'm with fear, don't see how this is a top-tier metal vocalist, I may be missing something.

He's got power and emotion, sadly his range is a tad bit limited; either that or he doesn't fully utilize it.

I listened to their older stuff, I can agree with the potential and range he has but I just didn't hear it on this particular record. May have to give it another listen.

I'm not denying his power/emotion but his harshs/cleans are barely average at best. If this was years ago I'd definitely say he was better but his vocals are incredibly strained, grainy, and pushing too hard for something that sounds forced. It just doesn't even sound natural anymore and he sounds like he's in pain (not due to emotion either) because of years of doing his vocals or just improper technique.

Wear and tear is a a shorter version of me describing them as with each album since Hollow Crown they've gotten worse.

he has sounded so dead and unnatural for years

i dunno why all these core vocalists who can manage to do the same bland ass screams are heralded as having good technique and that

like wow theyre consistently boring, gr8 for them

sam hasnt sounded interesting since like hollow crown and maybe daybreaker for a couple of songs

Tbh there is no save technique for screaming, it will always take its toll. Some techniques are worse than others though
