Very lame album. Bleeder Despoiler is a banger though

“get yourself to their last two albums, The Ride Majestic and The Living Infinite, you're going to have a great time”
Will do!
My whole thing this year is to record my favorite album each week to make end of year stuff easier, and this album is probably gonna be the one I put down.

I'm like halfway through...I mean it's catchy, but is this just me or is this pretty generic?

Step down from the previous two albums

Very solid 3.5. I was a bit too hyped after reading some reviews online, and then grabbed a leak and was promptly very....whelmed. Just whelmed. In my eyes, it's simply more of the same. And the "same" has been merely very solid. Just like their last 4-5 albums, it's too samey for me to be engaged in a full playthrough, but I'm sure I'll find 4-5 songs that I can really groove to and throw those into my Soilwork playlist. Honestly, not a lot stood out in my first 1.5 listens, but I'm going to give it some more spins before I review the thing.

Maybe it’s a 4 for me because I haven’t heard their previous work
|

Oh man really? Well, just about anything they've done (imho, will vary wildly with Sput members) since the early 2010's has been more or less the exact same thing. Hugely consistent, but not always exciting. That's a good thing and a bad thing. If the formula works for you, then you should like quite a bit of their back catalog.

idk I like their last two and I still think this slaps. Soilwork has always been a bit homogeneous, but songs like When the Universe Spoke and The Ageless Whisper are just awesome. I'd put the latter up there with the title track from The Ride Majestic

Just skipped everything out of curiosity to check out the track with Tomi, dang his contribution is small but that Finnish warrior's got some pipes.
Mixing was alright for the guitars and drums having their nice pocket in the mix, but lead vox were a bit high too high and bass guitar tone lacks a bit of punch IMO. But that master is so loud with the clicky drums and everything just squashed

dude you're not kidding man, this album is insanely loud.
