Giving Code Orange's 'Underneath' a 3rd or 4th listen and I just don't get what I'm missing.
It really sounds like they're going for some rock radio hits which is, y'know, fine if you're into that sort of thing. I mean, it sounds like some mix of industrial or alternative metal or nu metal (which is oddly making some sort of comeback, at least in a supplementary sense if not outright). I mean, on one hand you have these Converge-esque songs like in 'I Am King' and then on the other - you this ROCK RADIO FM or whatever.
Not that they aren't allowed to take the band's sound whereever they choose, but I'm just surprised that Code Orange fans(?) dig it.
This seems like an entirely different project.

I thought that even their most loved stuff was mediocre and sounded like many other bands but with less balls. There are some decent stuff that they have but I can't remember any of it because to me it was boring as hell. At least they aren't going to go the Hatebreed route, though.
I'm sure I'd hate this though

LMAO this was actually funny

Solid review and you make some valid points, but goddamn I am loving this album. I think I could do without the "cd skipping" as you put it, but everything else I am down with.

I'm digging most of this as well. Wonder if it helps to have seen them live before now. Also helps I'm old enough to have been a teenager when nu-metal was cool, and still praise it's merits regularly.

I think, sometimes there's a sound or style you like that might not be all that objectively special, but it scratches an itch. I think, it's why I think of most post-rock or post-metal just bland and boring. Or that I like some deathcore (though probably consensus top tier bands) even though most people think very little of it.
Whatever floats ya boat imo

Yuppppppp, same with all that 90's Alt, Alt-Metal, and Industrial

i lived in those times as well and it sucked bad, even then. there's nothing cool about Limp Bizkit or Corn.
