that’s never been his MO

beacons is the only release that was intended to be a concept album, the rest are mostly standalone tracks that he writes as he goes

i would love to see him make another concept album

I don't think an album needs to be a concept album to have a flow. If you're trying to create atmosphere it's important to transition your songs, even if it's just a simple fade in-fade out.

best cloudkicker for my money. I'm getting a lot of chimp spanner vibes from this actually.

i wish chimp spanner had kept going, he was one of the greats early on

i should have also mentioned that misha mansoor was a big contributor with his bulb project before periphery

I think he's still doing stuff, he just took an extended break from recording his own music sadly =(

vivaldi’s universal language was the peak of that era, for my money

even though it was just an ep, had he expanded on that sound it would have been a stone cold classic. perfect blend of melody and technicality

Man I’m so impressed. 94 Days and Code Language are fucking brilliant. His best in years.

Appropriately heavy as fuck too. Probably his heaviest work.

This album has reignited my love for Cloudkicker. Heavy as hell, and no suprise his best in years. Might even bump up into a 4.5.

he went through a difficult stretch of writer’s block, he touched on it in an interview

he also did a reddit AMA a while back, great read. he’s just such a genuine good natured guy and so down to earth despite everything he’s accomplished. literally no different than the guy down the street, and it’s all online for free
