I really liked Dying Surfer.
Hope this is just as good.

If I was forced to pick a fav prior to this release it would’ve been Dying Surfer as well. With this in the mix I’m not so sure anymore. Very glad they both exist.
Edit - They went back to the same producer who worked on Dying Surfer for this one. Mikey Allred, who also produced Paradise Gallows by Inter Arma.

I'll have to give Dying Surfer more listens. Strangely enough, it didn't grip me as easily as their other releases. It has more of a jam-oriented approach to the songwriting which I usually tend to like.

It's def more spaced out in general than Sleeping or ATW. Though the end of ATW has got some serious staring off into the abyss to contemplate your existence type looseness. I really like them all so it would be splitting hairs to do a rank.

ATW has some real standout tracks for me. Workhorse, Diamond and Rob's Dream are some of my favorite songs that the band has churned out.
I share your thoughts though. Ranking their albums would be a tough call.

This extremely rips. Enemy of My Enemy would be huge if modern rock stations weren't absolute fucking cowards

@DavidYowi Agreed. Never ceases to amaze how good we’ve become as a society at ignoring the shit that isn’t waved directly in our faces. The fact that I have to defend rock music as something that still exists is such a bummer. Obviously not applicable to users of this site, but I hear it a lot from friends and coworkers (especially older ones). It’s like when Led Zeppelin ended so did their curiosity.

Big King Buffalo vibes on See You Next Fall

Definitely better than the last one, which honestly I thought was a bit shite other than Harvest Feast... starting to think they won't hit Lightning At The Door levels again though : (

Funny you say that, I really like their last one and I think Harvest Feast and Fishbelly are the only "weak" songs on the album.

Last album was great, outside of fish belly and harvest. This one to me is as good, if not better just because I like how focused it feels.

This one to me is very close to Lightning at the Door levels

Lightning probably has the biggest collection of their go-to bring the house down live shit. But there’s nothing on Lightning as transcendent as Rats in Ruin.

Seconded in regards to See You Next Fall. That song is something else and the beginning shivers man.

If only the whole album was on that song's level.

One complaint I have about this album is the pacing from track 3-4. I think if lights out was track 4 this whole thing would flow better. Everest right into a 2 min intro is kinda clunky to me.

I think I can agree with that. Lights out smooshed in between 41 and Rats in Ruin is a bit jarring too so that would kill two birds with one stone.
