Their first two records were inoffensively "okay", so it'll be interesting to see how this fares.

8 yrs of metal has been flushed, gonna get the plunger and send Deafheaven down with it
"Worth noting the music for this was all recorded about 4 years ago. Mike finally got around to recording the vocals last year when all his other projects got put on hold."
Thank you, I did not know this! Shame they couldn't get it out earlier, although I'm honestly not sure how much my take would have changed on it

This is one hell of a 3.5

"Recoil" is a jam though.

Wha-wait new Tomahawk record? Yesss

I kinda liked Oddfellows despite its many obvious shortcomings, so who knows maybe this one's worth a shot even if no one's pissing themselves over it

Also here to raise questions about the summary.

Much love Jesp, using my new found tag to question the great Hugh Puddle's summary probably isn't the best move though.

Mike Patton released a lot of weak projects and albums in the last decade, and i dont believe he call pull it back up with Tomahawk, and whoever is on the band right now.
I will pass on this one, for now.

I’ve only heard Mit Gas (and I liked it). I’m probably better off listening to the s/t then.
Lol @ the summary.

Nice review. This record is a nice third instalment in a trilogy, in an alternate universe where Anonymous and Oddfellows don't exist.
I really liked this overall. Then again, I go pretty easy on bands when they pull an album like this (perfecting an old sound, rather than exploring a new one). I think Business Casual might just be the quintessential Tomahawk song. I love it, but get why it would be overly and frustratingly familiar for someone else

This ain't a weak album and it's as much about the JLiz/Helmet vibes as Patton (...as with all Tomahawk smh) but it's v by numbers. Then again, most of this band's best stuff is - Demon, you're better off with the s/t but not by that much tbh
And yeah I feel you polyrhythm - if I was more into this band, this album would be a joy
