holy shit wtf is "swancore" lol, first time me hearing about it
The "questionable moral values" part does sound interesting though

I actually like this on a first listen.
I've been a fan of "swancore" long since there was a name for it, and this reminds me of the bands that I really liked back in the day that actually did their own thing and didn't JUST try to ape DGD like I feel many of the new swancore bands do.
I agree with many of the overall points though, but I think his voice is decent and I think he sounds really good at times, but then he becomes way too nasal at other times. I think he sounds fairly unique though which is often a + in my book.
I don't think this stands out musically that much but it does scratch an itch that I've had lately where I think interesting post-hardcore releases are few and far between.

apparently swancore is like wanky guitar post-hardcore, to me it doesn't sound post-hardcore at all but that's just my opinion, bands like Dance Gavin Dance to me, are just weird wanky metal bands (there's also a weird ''emo'' for lack of a better term element in DGD) but i don't find no post-hardcore in that music.
Fall of Troy would be swancore, by this definition, but I find that band closer to post-hardcore than DGD. Maybe i'm crazy though. There's still an ''emo'' element to fall of troy too, the vocals.
I guess bands like Glassjaw are anomalies. Even though I could see some similarity in the first record to the other bands I mentioned. But it just sounds different in a way.

just listened to mouths like sidewinder missiles by the fall of troy, amazing stuff
if this is even remotely as good then I'll like it, but from the ratings it doesn't seem that way

Good review homie, I bet I know what this sounds like without listening to it lol

Fall of Troy predates swancore by several years. Listen to bands like Icarus the Owl, Dance Gavin Dance, Eidola, and Hail the Sun for a good idea. Or any band that has released albums on the label Blue Swan Records (Will Swan’s label)

itt Eons learns that post-hardcore is a very very broad genre

Yes, new Resilia fans, let's go!
Also you're welcome, they're such a cool band

This is pretty good, probably a 3 or 3.5
Reminds me of early PTH -- specifically A Calculated Use of Sound.

damn this guys voice is grating, and I have a pretty high tolerance for whiny vocals.

Kinda wondering if Gnocchi ended up listening to this/his thoughts

Ah…….loading?

Should the fact that fall of troy predates swancore really matter? People say the same of meshuggah, that it predates djent, somehow making it itself not djent. I don't buy that logic
listened to downtown battle mountain, very pleasant stuff too

Okay so update. This is kind of middling even though I don’t invest much in the swan scene. There’s no lift, or defining moments. Everything is the same larger scope, pace, lack of climax. Feeling like this is might just scrape a rather average score and the review kind of matches my overall feeling.

@xfing not necessarily, it’s just that i think you should listen to the other bands i mentioned as well because there are some decided differences between FOT and swancore stuff.
@Gnocchi. Okay makes sense lol

Riffs are fun, vocals suck, and the breakdowns come out of nowhere. Fun vibes.
I think it's evident that swancore is dying also. DGD released a poorly accepted (speech ;] ) album, and almost everyone doesn't care about the new HTS song. We need a band that doesn't jack off the old progressive post-hardcore sound. Plus the vocals sounded like Coheed and Cambria on one track, didn't it?

I didn’t get Coheed vibes. I keep saying he sounds like the guy from Alesana but no one seems to agree
