On first listen it’s just ok. Not as memorable as Moment.

Much preferred Moment and Atoma. Feels like a return to WATV and Construct levels, unfortunately

I still think Unforgivable is the best track they’ve released in a long time though.

Agreed. That and Phantom Days are the best ones in recent times.

Construct is better than moment and atoma

Very fair review. I thought this album was a pleasant surprise, though maybe it'll grow off me in time. This all feels very fresh in a way I didn't expect.
Wayward Eyes is such a standout. Melodically it reminds me a little bit of the Shadows of the Wasteland album by Silence Lies Fear.

Band’s been on autopilot since we are the void. But that’s not a bad thing.

The synth in the opening of wayward eyes has such an omnium Gatherum feel.

"False Reflections" Trey is this your fav song?
I hate it.
I would totally delete the couple of songs that have mikael's cleans... that would make this a better record.

I see that Fredrik Johansson contributed some music to "One of us is gone" before he died

Two quick corrections.
Johan Reinholdz did contribute to the songwriting on Moment as he's credited on eight of the 12 songs, including three ("Transient", "The Dark Unbroken" and "Ego Deception") that he wrote on his own.
The biggest change in songwriting was the departure of Anders Jivarp, who wrote a lot of the band's catchier, more accessible songs like "Atoma" and "Forward Momentum". This album is missing those hooks and is instead driven by forgettable guitar parts that are way too low in the mix, as you say.
Overall, I agree that it reminds me of We are the Void. Not terrible, just unremarkable.

He's credited on Moment, but they didn't actually allow him any creative freedom. From Stanne:
-So going into this album, knowing that we have Chris [Amott] and Johan [Reinholdz], we had to incorporate their talents and way of playing and thinking into it. But we also had a lot of songs ready.
- Martin Brändström has grown into this role even more with this album. He took on a lot more responsibility when it comes to making sure that everyone is on the same page, keeping the songs focused and strong. He made sure the songs kept to the rules and ideas that we are about.
-Sometimes Johan would do something that we thought was fantastic but didn’t fit, or sometimes Chris would do something fantastic, but it wasn’t really D.T. – there’s this weird policing that goes along with it.

Love it so far. I get strong We Are the Void and Construct vibes which I don’t mind at all as I love those records. Been a huge fan of Mikael’s cleans as well so I’m glad he’s throwing those in throughout the album. Giving it a strong 4 maybe bumped up to 4.5 after a few listens.

meh.
i really wish they'd stop relying so hard on clean vocals because every single clean vocal performance he does on this record sounds exactly the same and it ends up wearing very thin.
better than moment but not by much. at least there's some really cool scattered moments here and there but that's all i can really say for it.
high 2.5 - at least it's more consistent and the guitarwork and synthwork is more adventurous than moment but it really doesn't go very far to be anything other than another formulaic dark tranquillity record.
