Winona video is incredible.
They nailed the vibe of the song perfectly, definitely gets me a little misty eyed

The video is great. Has a really cool, desolate, beautiful vibe/atmosphere to it.
Lyrics are very poetic, meaningful. A lot of substance to this album for sure.

The Fragile is the double album for me personally but yeah I think most double albums are, at least partially, vanity projects. Split that shit in half nobody wants to listen to a 2 hour record
sry not sry

bm stan demographics are changing, they don’t know or care enough to be elitists like that

I will say despite rarely agreeing with user demon(musically good chap otherwise) I think his analysis is spot on. Tho I don’t think a compilation of tracks that give off vibes like Jane doe’s closer for example, is necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it feels like a nice change from the tired structure of shallow beginning /tedious middle/ epic crescendo conclusion.
It’s like we’ve been tricked into thinking we must sit thru an hour plus of bs just to finally get to something substantive at the end of the album. Then after we always end up saying something like “this album must be listened to in full”. All of the tracks here feel like well above average standalone works to me. It doesn’t quite succeed a being a perfect cohesive unit(thus the lack of 5) but they all feel like the best single thing deafheaven has done if that’s makes sense

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
I do think your analysis is spot on reich, and that's what set this at a 5 for me vs anything else. Each individual song feels like some of the best work they've done and the interludes are interesting connectors, but for me this does become stronger in its entirety to the point where I really don't know what I could possibly want from this band or this sound. It's such a digestible length too.
I have spun the shit out of this thing already and find myself still wanting to return

I can return to pretty much any song off this, but I especially keep coming back to Amethyst. Such an incredible song, it might be their best in their entire catalog.

Garden Route is great too, it’s only issue is being wedged in between the two singles I guess.
