Something interesting at the top of /r/brandnew today.
Unofficial word that they’re not done.

didn't think jesse would want anything to do with this band after it turned 18.

A part of my hopes they aren't done but another part thinks that this record was the perfect sendoff and we don't need anything more.

Stylistically I just don't know where they could go from here. If that reddit post has any truth to it at all I think it just means they aren't done touring.
Which I really hope is the case since I never got to see them :/

Science Fiction was always going to be the last album. New music is out of the cards, unless it's a B-sides collection. Now I'm pissed off that I lost my 2000-2018 shirt on a trip, because it could be worth quite a bit. For those reasons I would *prefer* the new tour conclude in 2018, but I'd rather have that be fabricated than no tour.

If that happened to me I'd go berserk

I, for one, would be super happy if they continued making music. A band this creatively fresh shouldn't hang it up.

yeah no, they're definitely not going to make another full length or anything. I am at least confident of that. But I wouldn't be surprised if they announce a proper farewell tour after the dust settles some more, or another festival, or some b-sides/Sealed to Me, or some combination of these things.

I don't think they'll release anything new again ever, and I'm pretty skeptical of the reddit post which is totally unverified. They were going to disband anyway this year. I'm even doubtful that they'll tour again. Jesse is pretty private and hates media exposure; a comeback would definitely give him more negative press. I think we'll get a low key "thanks for being a fan" letter with a free (or women's cause charity) download of Sealed to Me that says they're officially done and that they appreciate the years of support and regret how things ended. I also think something like this will occur before the end of 2018 - it was long since decided within the band that they'd be done before 2019 (remember the 2000-2018 shirts?)

I think that it's probable that Jesse will make more music, especially after the recent events, but definitely not as BN. If the band was a progression towards maturity, the journey to becoming 18 and at peace with oneself, then the allegations of JL committing a crime reserved for the adults is an event of another stage of life and development. One that BN won't enter. If they decided, however, for a side project or just a new band it sure will be great.
Another letter would be very much in fashion of BN, yes.

Just from an image standpoint, going for the “fresh start” would make a zillion times more sense

I used to want a studio version of Sealed to Me, but now I just don't really care to hear it again. I'd be happy if Jesse never did anything ever again, tbh. I feel bad for everyone else in the band and would be more than happy to check new projects from them.
