crazy you also have to squeeze in Faith No More's 'The Real Thing' and Megadeth's 'Rust in Peace' in that period too, just album after album after album...plus, uh, you had Aerosmith at my school for some reason, people loved them



'91 is when I really stepped up being into music as something I'd seek out and then I'd say '94 and the start of CDs is when it became the hobby I'd save cash up for, try and get three or four albums a month, while also copying loads of stuff onto cassette

I probably only had thirty cassettes by the time CDs took over. Think I tended to just copy stuff or borrow it, tape stuff off the radio. Cassettes always got fucked, CDs came in with the promise of no degradation...though they'd get scratched to buggery anyway :D



'94 then I probably had nearly thirty CDs by the end of the year, that format really sped me up, loved my CDs - still have about 1500 of them in the house...

30 tapes was still more than enough if it was quality.



Back to this mob and thinking about it, this band were just not cool back then. There was no mystique and absolutely fuck all charm. They registered a bit of danger I suppose.

They seemed a bit dangerous and mysterious before the Black album, plus they had a bit of 'they are the fans' metal kid charm...then with the Black album they were clearly an 'American institution' and you knew everything about them thanks to the vids and the documentary of the making of the album. They were a juggernaut, the U2 of metal, but the black album still had the tunes and sounded massive at the time.



Basically my parents couldn't have listened to MoP but then my mum is saying 'Enter Sandman' is catchy and it was what it was - household name, even top of the pops could play the hit songs in full.



The next step was Lars in guyliner...they were Bono

You just knew they were getting massages after coming off stage and most likely manicures/pedicures before the following lunchtime

Oh man this brings memories. I'd also add the thrill of a metal vid coming up on MTV or another show we used to have in Spain called Plastic. We were fed drop by drop.



I used to tape also off records stitching up just the parts of a song I liked into a 90 minutes behemoth Frankenstein of non stop verses and choruses.

Well James liked to party that much is known, yeah they probably were still going for it up until the '10s maybe. They worshipped proper roadhog bands like Motorhead and Thin Lizzy so makes sense.

Fight fire with fire has some death metal energy, one of their heaviest and greatest songs.
