first 3 Coheed albums are absolutely mint and this being 20 years old makes me feel ancient

"they funnelled that into the comic books
gonna drop this down just a notch, has a load of bangers but doesn't have the front-to-back draw it used to hmm"
Yeah honestly, a lot of Camper Velourium does nothing for me anymore, album is pretty front/mid-loaded an then Light & Glass rules. I probably enjoy GA1 more top to bottom at this point bc Willing Well dunks so hard on the back quarter of this one.

ga1 is just arena butt prog, pretty much irredeemable from start to finish

I would say what redeems it is all the dope as hell music on it specifically for people who don't care about fake labels like arena butt prog.

Actually taking a min to skim through some ratings my taste and Ryus taste are p much polar opposite (damn where'd you get your ears at, the idiot store?) but Pika actually has a ton of shit that lines up with me which is wild bc I feel like I see an equal amt of comments that make me shit all over myself with rage from both.

pika is an enigma i am reliable

Pika just needs to embrace lame shit for weird dumb nerds who had horrible teenage years more, it is fun and good.
He did 4.5 a Parkway Drive album tho and may have used it all up on that.

breh GA1 has the highest volume of earwormy leads and catchy riffs of maybe any album ever, arena butt prog is a spicy af take

I see why people so often rank this as the best Coheed album. All I'd really bothered to listen to was Favor House Atlantic and Blood Red Summer, and those are great songs, but listening to the album front to back is just a whole different experience.
I might end up bumping my rating down to a 4.5 depending on how much of this sticks with me, but this album doesn't have nearly as many filler tracks to me compared to GA1

Like, GA1 has "Once Upon Your Dead Body", "Lying Lies", and "Mother May I", all of which I usually skip, but I think the only track here that I'd actually skip is "Cuts Marked", and even that track has an incredible chorus to it

This is no SSTB and may actually be a hair below Good Apollo but it's a really fun album held back by that salt-flats tier production

This album probably has the strongest run of songs next to GA1. The first half of the album, especially, has banger after banger. Also, The Light and The Glass deserves so much more love. I really wish C&C would consider turning The Dark Tower into a concept album. I feel like King's books are right up their alley.

The Light and the Glass was the final nail in the coffin that lead to me giving this a 5. Such a perfect "closer" to the album, and it came right after I thought the album had used up all of its juice too. To follow up Favor with that was just spellbinding
