I don't see how it's crazy, there's not really a skip on here for me, but it could just be that this and Meteora pretty much shaped the early goings of my taste and Chester was ALWAYS one to know his way around a good hook. Even his rougher early days with Grey Daze where he was just figuring himself out a bit and doing a lot of Staley worship. I find myself revisiting this and Grey Daze more and more often.

Hated it when I was younger, really enjoy it now. It's not their best, but it's pretty easily their 3rd best.

I'm probably closer to second place with this just below Meteora but 3rd's fair

I think HT and Meteora are pretty much universally recognized as nu-metal classics. This album completely changed their sound, and not in a particularly innovative way. As a result, many fans back in 2007 disliked the departure in sound (myself included). However, as time passed along with my attachment to angsty nu-metal, I definitely grew to appreciate how nearly every song here is memorable and well-crafted. It won't win any awards or be remembered for anything in particular, but it is good for what it is. The closer here is my personal favorite.

Anyway, the 5 isn't crazy IMO. It's a good release and if you sprinkle in a little personal attachment, it's easy to understand.

"might also explain why i like when albums go from one end to the other like this"
i need some further explanation on this cause im confused

i think the albums that I needed to grow into were Living Things and One More Light, but i can pretty safely say I like every LP mainline album
"i need some further explanation on this cause im confused" I like when albums switch it up and change styles and find some way to wrap it all together in the end, like this does

yeah i know at one point i had this 4.5d but i dont know what it'd be now. probably a 4 but the hard rockers on this things are generally the worst ones besides given up and bleed it out if you count that.
no more sorrow is honestly the biggest glaring sore on this thing and it's right smack in the middle
it's that dynamic between the u2 songs and the hard songs that really makes it wonky how they ordered it and chose the songs they did. def one of those albums where some of the b sides should have made it over the main tracklist
