This is super-tight my god. Every song sounds both similar and entirely different at the same time, they all have so much going on, so many layers and change-ups, and off-tempo beats and rhythms and crazy evil riffs and super smooth soloing and..just everything really. It's never boring or disengaging in the slightest not for one second, they know how to catch your ear with every sound, nothing is wasted. You described it perfectly coke; their songwriting ability really shows through and makes this album an extensive exercise in ass-kicking lol.
Oh, and so saw someone else comment with this on another review site so I'd like to paraphrase because I couldn't agree with him/her more...the bass player kicks my balls in half. This Message Edited On 02.02.08

Oh, and I somehow missed this in your review the first time I read it (which was very well done btw, I liked the concept) but you mentioned how the album closes out at the end of Hidden Genocide. Yo, the first time I heard that I laughed hysterically (in a good way). The first thing that came to me was "Oh my god it's Chocobo music!" lol. If you know what I'm talking about, listen again, it totally is.

Cocaine, I have to give you props. I honestly thought I had heard the best in this sub-genre of metal until some users hurt my feelings and said Necrophagist sounded forced. I totally see it your way, now that I've picked this album up and given it multiple listens throughout the week. Every song on here is gold. Good recommendations and a brilliant concept review. The Brazillian Wax metaphor had me in tears from laughter!

This si a really kickass album. The band rocks out so hard on "Hidden Genocide" and the little weird acousticy-like thing at the end is hilarious/awesome. Props on this review. Even if it made you swear hevaily it came out really nicely.
