got into this last year-ish, probably the best album I’ve gotten into in the past few years. A masterpiece.

songs like “the boy done wrong” & “mayfly” took a couple listens to click, the rest of this was god damn immediate. Just amazing songwriting.

Tigermilk and this has to be the one of the greatest debut-follow up combos ever, and in the same year too

Stow College's studio I believe, also possibly in a church? It was lightning in a bottle the way Stuart got everyone together, I think he met Stevie Jackson and possibly a few others on a jobseeker's music course.

Yes! The amount of music they released from 1996-1998 was unbelievable (although most of the songs had been floating around in some form for a few years). Loved the way they released EPs between albums; Dog on Wheels, Lazy Line Painter Jane, 3...6...9 Seconds of Light, Just a Modern Rock Song.

Push Barman was phenomenal. There's a great song on it called Take Your Carriage Clock and Shove It - a B-side to a single from 2001 that I somehow missed until the compilation came out that has become one of my all-time favourites.
