I dont know how you guys think that. All their albums are good, especially their first 3. The only thing that sucks about them IMO is their lyrics.

Ummmmm since when are Children of Bodom power metal? As far as I can tell they have one of the largest genre controversies there is.

They play power metal esque music but have harsh vocals.

AH, just fuck the genre controversies.....damn, so annoying. I call them Melo-Death because I think they sound more like In Flames than say Kamelot or Blind Guardian.

I say Melo-Death/Thrash. Also Melodic Black Metal in their first 2 albums.

Exactly, if I had to call them anything it would be Melo-Death but its too hard to pinpoint something for them.

Yeah i never really understood why people called them Power Metal. Nothing to me, except some riffs in earlier albums, is Power Metal about COB.

My whole point for saying this is that this whole review seems bent on bashing the album because its like false power metal. Writing a review about a CoB album involving genres is a lost cause from the start.

There's no death metal, no melodic death metal and certainly no black metal in their sound. You guys are idiots. Harsh vocals do not equate to one particular genre. As of late what I've heard of their sound does have a crunchier, heavier sound but it's not even remotely close to a "death metal" sound. Sorry guys but if you honestly put "death" into describing these guys not only are you an idiot but you've never heard death metal.

Fact is, you can call 'em power metal, you can call 'em power/thrash, you can call 'em whatever the fuck you want as long as it's not black or death metal.

Yeah i never really understood why people called them Power Metal.

Because that's what they play.

I actually think they have more neo-classical in their sound then straight up power metal. This Message Edited On 04.08.08

neo-classical? are you being facetious or is that a serious comment? they may have less power/speed metal on recent albums but i've only heard a handful of songs off them so i can't be sure. that being said...neo-classical? NEO-CLASSICAL? that's even funnier than the death tags.

Remember what I said! But yeah, I'm not surprised that this album sucks, mainly because CoB haven't made a single good album anyway.

evidently you can't call cob whatever the fuck you want so long as its not black or death metal

I am not saying all neo-classical. They have incorporated Neo-classical elements into their power metal realm of things, especially in their solos. The newer albums have gone more straight up heavy metal and lost that power/speed type metal almost completely. I am saying their older stuff (some of their new stuff) sound in the neo-classical realm. I can hear some Vivaldi esque influences....thus making them a bit neoclassical.

Now I am done arguing with Cocaine because it's like arguing with a wall that talks. This Message Edited On 04.08.08
