I feel like people over-react when something is labelled as "pop." I honestly don't think there would be 1.5s and "I fucking hate this"'s if it wasn't some sweet little girl making radio pop. Like, if you don't like a hyped punk album that sputnik loves (or soemthing) you give it a 3 and feel bad about going against the grain. but if you don't like a pop album, it's fair to give it a 1 cause "popular music is shitty grrrr!"
honestly, I don't see how anyone could successfully argue that this is "terrible", or worthy of such a low mark. seriously, what's so awful about Lorde's music? if it leave you cold that's cool, but I definitely feel that a 1.5 is over-reacting (and feeling entitled to because it is pop music)

yea, her shit is nothing less than genius. I don't understand the hate at all.

only heard the one song by her (royals) and it's terrible
|

review summary is hilarious because a) she sounds nothing like her and b) just... no

Royals is probably one of my least favorite track of hers. Try "Love Club," "Tennis Court," or "Team" for a better idea of her music.

can you elaborate on "terrible"? I'm really struggling to see what's so offensively bad about her music. Royals is such a good song.

and she sounds so so sooooo much like Lana Del Rey. you deaf nig?

i enjoyed love club. idk, i just find royals really grating and annoying vocally and the chorus is just boring as fuuuuuuuuck

hmmm none of that really seems to justify "terrible". Again, I feel like people are turning indifference into hate because it's a pop artist.
the vocal layering is glorious, hooked me immediately. What did you expect to happen in the chorus? it seemed appropriately busy to me, "boring is fuck" seems like a weird reaction.
just asking by the way, cause I'm honestly curious what's gotten people so irate about Lorde (and I haven't gotten a good answer yet, still).

dude, i'm not uncalm over here, i just don't like the song. i hate the way she enunciates words and the vocal melodies drive me nuts (that 'and baby i'll ruuuuuu I'LL RUUUULLLLLLE I'LL RULLLLLLLLLLLLE) i never thought i'd complain about this in a pop song, but it's too glossy and tacky
