I hope you're liking it a lot :]. I haven't heard much new metal since like April (so short on time, it really makes me sad), but this is definitely one of my favorites from this year.

I like Saturnus - their last album was excellent - so I also like every other band that pays homage to them.

Will listen to this album more in the future.

Is the new Vainaja more "solid stuff that's been done before a lot" or "whoa this is refreshing"? Their last one was good, but fell into the first category for me, which is why I haven't hurried myself to listen to the new one (which is ironic since this album here also belongs more to the first group but whatever haha).



EDIT: nevermind, I totally mistook Vainaja for Profetus, another Finnish doom band.

As a good start, this album is generic standard gothic/doom in the vein of Draconian. A reason why people masturbate over this, like the eagle, they dig simple doom. First two albums were light funeral doom and while they were also generic, they have better songwriting and are slightly less accessible than this.
