album is indeed great. I dig a lot. It's not sub par with TRTRTS, but maybe it's just me liking prog rock more than electronic stuff.

Funny. In my opinion, the bits of this that sound almost too prog rocky are te worst bits as I just find them too boring but hey, taste i guess.

Received the digibook version yesterday. It's pretty great, especially since I'm a fan of well-done concept albums that don't sacrifice music to tell a story.

Not entirely sure yet if I'll enjoy it more than 'The Raven...', but it just might.

Tempted to bring this up to a 4 because the atmosphere is really impressing me after more listens

Ending is a little lacklustre though

Ending lackluster? I find the first five songs to be the weakest part of the album

Whoa, seriously? The first five are the best, especially 3 years older and the t/t.

Those are the best of the first five but everything after that gets amazing

nah the more prog rocky and jazzy it got, the more bored I was. Like, regret 9 feels so out of place and doesn't add to that wonderful atmosphere of isolation

Ancestral is probably my favorite Wilson tune

Well it's definitely a step in the right direction. Just not another throwback prog album

That seems to be the big point everyone is mentioning.

It's true, it feels influenced, but fresh

Happy Returns nails that approach to an imminent bittersweet ending.

Also love how Wilson used the same melody of 'Perfect Life' in 'Ascendant Here On…', as it really gives it a good sense of closure for me. I think it was also faintly present at the end of Routine.

Really the only fault here is the lack of flute parts, which were, I think, the best parts of his last two albums

Needs moar classic-prog. Ancestral is definitely the best track.
