What other vocalists?
This would be a good Hallowed jam.
God the echo on his vocals is such a nice touch.

I mean... I would hope so

I meant it was either gonna be a 5 or stay a 4.5, and it stayed a 4.5

Since listening to it for the first time last night, I've spent the entire day today with my headphones on, looping this album on repeat over and over, something I haven't done with any other record this year yet, and it's just simply gorgeous. Even the initially less liked songs like Here Come The Dead and In The Blood have grown on me. Addictive af.

Yep. This is a 5. Continues to get better and better. Never really took to their old stuff, I'll have to give it another go but I'm sticking with this for a long time. Album is fucking spectacular.

trying this out now

"I'm glowing bright, obsidian
Axolotl, amphibian
Un-elemental chemicals
Got me growing six black tentacles"
Hell of a way to open an album.

This sounds like how everyone wishes the Nick Cave slated for release this year would end up sounding like...but of course won't

Doof this is possibly the album I've been looking for this year. It's bloody fantastic.

It might suffer a bit for coming out at exactly the same time as my undisputed favourite of the year so far but I'm liking what I'm hearing - Nick Cave meets Mezzanine meets the latest Wild Beasts meets The Doors sorta thing with a Nintendo switched on in the background and a bit of a tribal vibe lingering
Overtly trying to be cool stuff can piss me off but as long as this avoids the Primal Scream effect pretty sure I'll dig this

Pretty sure David Lynch would love this, sounds very American, very dark and very soundtracky
Anyone who has spun the recent Lynch solo albums will hear huge similarities, a good thing.

"Never really took to their old stuff, I'll have to give it another go but I'm sticking with this for a long time"
Whilst I have virtually no doubts that this is amazing and attention commanding as fuck, their first two albums are both near-perfect and have been criminally overlooked by this site for way too long.

Word ^ they're gems
Their first is like the polar opposite of this in indie rock terms

disappointingly light compared to what the album cover would suggest. still very good though, at least a lot better than their last one

"Pretty sure David Lynch would love this..."
I read the band are performing a song from this album 'live' in the new Twin Peaks, so you got that exactly right!

Twig some of these songs musically (not vocally) sound almost exactly like ones that appeared on Lynch's Crazy Clown Time.
These are more sturdily written songs than Lynch managed though
