i think sint / futures / toad's critiques are totally fair. that being said, i also enjoyed this.

i think toad's criticisms are fair.

the other two? i mean there's criticisms of merit to pick out there (and they're noted, trust me) but calling this outright "horrendous" and that it reads like a "pretentious first-year english student's" work doesnt really strike me as fair. it's w/e though : )

thanks though, hal :~)

you do you man

as for this review I'm a huge fan of the writing but def understand the criticism (esp Toad's). I love experimental reviews and this is a great example of how we should continue to push the boundaries of the review medium but also ground ourselves in constructive criticism when said experimentations falter slightly!

yeah sorry for being passive-aggressive futures, i really do hope i haven't upset you and that you're well, but as someone who sees this place as a creative outlet as much as a site to find and talk about new music, i can't understand why anyone would get up in arms about this one review for an album they probably wouldn't have listened to anyway.

maybe i'm more forgiving of this style than others itt. what i gather so far is:
the album is ambiguous but lacking in intrigue
it has a sense of spirituality, but never wisdom
the album sucks you in here and there, but never sticks
the album is dense with reverb
the vocals do little to navigate, and are, in effect, useless
there is a tinge of desperate romance, but it's hollow
it's "full of half-baked ideas that revolve around insipid central conceits."
as the album wraps up, it comes full circle to the boredom and inconsequentiality of the beginning
it's absentminded

idk, i feel like that says plenty
