I think users are accustomed to fast-food reviews so when they get a simmering gourmet meal like this they don't know what to do with it.

or maybe your pal made a review that isn't 100% beyond any semblance of reproach and people like to see great writers continue to improve. I've had people message me saying I needed to "dumb down my writing" as well - it doesn't mean the readers are stupid.

i mean, there's a hint of truth to what he says for sure. the standard for writing here isn't sky-high, so when you and butcher (and a couple others I'm forgetting) amped up your presence recently, you shined. you're leaps and bounds ahead of what I'd expect from relatively new-ish reviewers.

I don't think it's too cynical to say that most users just read the first para, skim the middle then check back in for the conclusion. They want bite-sized analysis they don't have to ponder over. That's the gist of many claims that a review in question is "verbose" or "strains the patience". At times there's validity to that, but don't discount that readers are sometimes just lazy.

I rarely read reviews all the way through unless it's for an artist I really like

"don't discount that readers are sometimes just lazy. "

can confirm, I'm quite bad for doing this

However, I did read all this one, and nice writing as always :] The first bit of that penultimate paragraph reads a bit like an academic journal article, which of course means it's well-written but I'll admit I had to read it a couple of times slowly to properly understand it. Whether that's a good thing or not is up for discussion, but yeah - would pos hard if I could.

Looking forward to listening to this

Really torn between a 3.5 and a 4 here. The 3.7 rating here is pretty spot on imo.
