I don't wanna sound like an old ass cranky motherfucker or anything, but I just heard Ponyboy and thought it was one of the worst things I've heard in a while. Hard to believe that passes as music these days.

If you guys like this then you should really check Art Of Noise's first LP, it's almost incredible considering it was released in '84.

tbh knowing what Art Of Noise did back in '84 this doesn't sound so special to me

Ha that’s an interesting reference, not in a bad way, but yeah more ppl should hit up AoN

Not to be irreverent but AoN never had a heater like Immaterial though
|

@robertsona: I don't know dude, I don't know AoN in depth, I just really admire them for their huge innovations in music

Yeah trust me that shit was crazy for sure in ‘84...weren’t they the first to use like a keyboard sampler where the key you pressed changed the pitch and speed of the sample? Which is obviously par for the course nowadays in sample based music like Sophie. But S has such a unique sound, can’t fault her for following in certain technical footsteps when the music is so fulla energy!! Imho
Chambered just check out Immaterial

Actually Sophie is not sample based, my bad...but the idea is sort of similar in fucking with waveforms and modulating the pitch of “samples” of melodies and rhythms

Regarding what Cusman said, I thought the same thing when listening to Plux Quba by Nuno Canavarro. That's from 1988.
