I made a list about this a couple days ago but turning The Shape, the embodiment of all things evil into a fucking chubby redneck with bullying issues was unforgiveable. And all that MTV filmmaking, and EVERY GODDAMN CHARACTER talking like Rob Zombie, Laurie's introduction being her finger fucking a bagel...ugh. Loomis saying his only friend is Michael Myers? UGH. UGHHHHHH
Seriously, that movie ruins my day whenever it's on.
I'll give you Taylor makes a boss Michael, I just wish he was in a different movie.

Name a horror movie (slasher in particular) from the 70’s that jumps out to you as amazing acting. I’ll wait.

@Hawks - Ok sorry man but that was a dumb question lol. The Exorcist. Alien. Jaws. The Omen. Carrie. Dawn of the Dead. I can go on for a while.
Although yeah this dude is wrong, Halloween is amazing and the cheesy acting is charming rather than annoying.
Edit: Ok I missed the "slasher" part

YEah I liked the backstory bits as well. Legit though, Tyler mane is a towering giant and looks scary as fuck in zombies films. Michaels strength in the none zombie Halloween films looks so weird considering his size

I dunno, Michael Myers being a bullied little redneck does nothing but piss me off.
He's supposed to be "The Shape." His eyes are supposed to have nothing behind them but evil. This literally goes against the entire premise and a lot of what makes the original so terrifying.

I admit, the lass that plays Laurie is fucking god awful in zombies Halloween. That bagel scene makes me cringe every tome

House and Devils are awesome
As the kids say, his Halloween raped my childhood. RAPED. MY. CHILDHOOD.
I no longer have a childhood, it's gone. All of my memories are just blackness because of that remake.

1000 corpses was alright yea. he def has a distinct style of filmmaking and for some reason it worked for me in the surreal esque lords of salem. it didn’t fit the halloween movies imo. you can tell he was trying to be more abstract in the sequel and it didn’t really work
the only old school slasher i can think of with good acting was the original texas chainsaw massacre. whether or not it counts as a slasher is debatable
PS good review. cannot wait to watch this movie

Original TCM is one of my favs as well and I think the acting in that movie is garbage lmao.

Yeah, the thing is it's hard to overstate just how influential the original Halloween is, so if someone is watching it with new eyes they might miss a lot.
That build up and tension is unmatched, though. So many brilliant moves, like just holding shots of Michael following people. Where they place him throughout the first half of the movie, etc. Ugh. So much greatness. That combined with the score, and the cinematography and the ahhhh
So goddamn good

Original TCM is fucking amazing. The acting of the teens sucked, but the acting of the crazies were gold.

"also having michael walk around half the sequel in broad daylight without his mask was just ugh.. i’ll never forgive zombie for that shit lol"
Dude I was in the theaters with my fist in my mouth and I think I was biting it so hard that it was bleeding. Not from fear, but from pure hatred. Ugh. Never forgiving that shit.
