yeah it was gonna be dlc but it ended up being too big.
i did everything in hollow knight EXCEPT finishing the pantheon. someday i'll come back to it but i just couldn't put myself through it after giving it a few tries.
the physical edition that's coming out soon looks great too.

the harder pantheons are seriously rage-inducing. i feel like the radiance is an rng nightmare most of the time and can be a run killer. my favourite fight in the game hands down is nightmare king (obviously lol). feels like the closest thing to a dark souls boss in terms of difficulty and balancing. gotta check out the physical edition, haven't seen it yet.

salt & sanctuary is vastly inferior but it's similarly confusing as fuck. a huge number of levels/environments but only so much of them is on the screen at one time.

I liked Hollow Knight because you don't have to look up what to do if you don't want to. The game play is so incredible that even if you can't remember what to do you can explore the map until you figure out what you were missing, and still enjoy just wandering around for hours. The game has legit ruined what I expect from good game play since.

i played salt and sanctuary when it came out and beat it in a few days, and man, that game is kind of meh. some cool boss and level design, but god awful hit boxes and other technical hiccups, including a bug which made me lose several hours of progress.
and yeah, if i'm stuck in a game these days, i'll look for a solution. i used to think that would take away from the experience of organically finding a solution, but sometimes the answer is really convoluted and stupid. i actually did need to refer to a guide in hollow knight to figure out where to go at one point (and where to access the godmaster dlc, which is obscure and stupidly placed). esp with these metroidvania-type games, it can be easy to get lost for hours.
