heavily agreed. LW abused the microtones and felt too much like a rehash of past ideas - trademark Gizz "exploration" felt pretty stunted. this is much more interesting direction and actually had me engaged immediately
best Gizz since Poly [2]

I've gotta agree with the butt.
This is much more enjoyable than KG or LW. Those records had a few excellent singles, but as a cohesive album, Butterfly 3000 is head and shoulders above anything the band has released since their 5 album blitz in 2017.

I looked away for one year and they had 3 new albums out. Some work ethic

Wikipedia is telling me they currently have 6, recently down from 7, plus some "collaborative members"

People saying this is the best since 2017 or so, but they forget FFF and ITRN are a thing
Gonna check this soon, all of this makes me really excited

FFF had a few great licks (This Thing, Acarine), but was mostly Little Feat cosplay...which isn't a bad thing, really.
ITRN has an awesome side A but I only think I've listened to side B once since it released.
Butterfly 3000 is simply more cohesive and consistent, IMO

Give these guys a genre and they will excell in it. Hope they'll never stop making music.

Looks like this is one of their better ones. Will try

I'm hooked on Shanghai now. I feel like I might go through a mild obsession with all of these tracks at some point

love this album more than I thought I would
that little chuggy part near the end of Catching Smoke is real fun

I got bored after 3 songs to be honest. I always hope I find an album of theirs that will click and make me get into the band. Polygondwanaland was closest, but it's too much of the same stuff over the dozen albums they released in the past few years.

arpeggiator setting set to 11.

So this band thinks they can just do little BMSR-lite synth squiggles and dreamy Flaming Lips-lite melodies and Tame Impala-lite vocals and that'll be enough?
I'll allow it

Idk lads this might be their best yet, unless they've got a really really underrated album I haven't checked yet
