Below the earth lies a serpent

Fire and brimstone

Remove the backbone

Say hello to sunshine

Wake up, you're baptized

An album of Casket Of Roderick Usher would be aweeeesome.

But no, nowhere near the best post hardcore, Thrice, Glassjaw, ATDI etc.

i feel this album was just released at the wrong time and was too much of a drastic change that it turned many people off, that being said its one of the most brilliant pieces of work ive heard from beginning to end in all aspects it captivates and never disappoints

Not only was it released at the wrong time, it was also released to the wrong crowd. Imagine the majority of "What it is to Burn" fans are probably pretty big on radio music and probably pretty resistant to challenging music.

i hear a lot of people talk about how nate's vocals sound a lot like daryl palumbo from glassjaw. well for those who didnt know, daryl was nate's vocal coach for WIITB, and he was a featured vocalist on the songs "grey matter" and "project mayhem" you can totally tell its him screaming if you listen closely. so maybe thats why nate tends to sound like daryl at times, but i still think he sounds different and he has a hell of a voice.

Never heard Glassjaw. I know these guys are taking too long to release a follow-up though.

I was a fan of the old finch but nothing really stood out from the pack of bands who were doing similar things at the time, but this album has that wow factor that threw finch above the rest with this new sound they have created. Great step forward and i hope they keep reaching for higher n higher things
